Today, we’re releasing a very special DIPA brewed in honour of our dear friend and longtime Hafis Taproom Supervisor, Nick Gergesha. If you’ve visited Hafis over the years, there’s a good chance you met Nick. He was the smiling face behind the bar who welcomed everyone through our doors and made every guest feel at home. Whether you were a longtime regular or stopping in for the first time, Nick had a way of making every interaction feel genuine. His kindness, generosity, and unwavering enthusiasm left a lasting impression on everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. We are incredibly grateful for the years we shared with Nick and for the joy he brought to Bellwoods every day. Larger Than Life is our way of celebrating our dear friend in a form he would have appreciated most: a Double IPA, his favourite style of beer. The recipe was spearheaded by Hafis Brewer Cole, while the label was designed by Isaac from the Bellwoods marketing team in collaboration with @doublenautdesign. Both Cole and Isaac were close friends, colleagues, and bandmates of Nick, and this beer is a reflection of the many people at Bellwoods who were lucky enough to know and love him. Brewed with Simcoe, Simcoe Dynaboost, Citra, and Kohia Nelson hops, this bold and expressive DIPA is a fitting tribute to Nick’s larger-than-life personality, with notes of fresh gooseberry, mango sorbet, and muddled pineapple sage. Proceeds from Larger Than Life will be donated to the Toronto Humane Society in Nick’s memory. Join us today at the Hafis Road Taproom from 12–7 PM as we celebrate our friend Nick and the release of Larger Than Life. We’ll have burgers, sausages, and veggie dogs from the Bellwoods kitchen, along with a vinyl set featuring selections from Nick’s personal record collection, spun by his friend Peter.
